Through the ages

It is not that long ago that Ötztal was presented in the famous mountain novels by Ludwig Ganghofer. Archaic, untamed, its summits audaciously protruding into the skies in gnarled fashion, with cliffs which keeping watch imposingly above dispersed Alpine pastures.

The Hotel Hochfirst: In former times and today

In 1934 the Hotel Hochfirst was constructed under the guidance of famous architect Baumann, in the shadow of the breathtaking mountain backdrop of the Ötztaler Alps. The hotel was extended in 1969 with a spacious seminar room and a large indoor pool. Hotel Hochfirst then ascended to the ranks of one of the most exclusive and best addresses in the Ötztal. There then came a generational change in 1993 - father Franz Gstrein gave his life's work over to daughter Daniela and son-in-law Karl Fender.

After this the hotel was generally refurbished and extended with quite a number of additional buildings. Our holiday residence today has an "Alpine Wellness Resort" -a 1500 m² wellness oasis which provides guests with a retreat in which to relax and unwind. In this way our hotel combines the traditional and the modern.
