Away from the prepared ski pistes Ötztal also provides skiers with lots of opportunities to try different types of skiing or go on ski tours. The three-thousand metre mountains are alluring with their superb views and breathtaking snow-covered deep snow slopes. The Ötztal Alps are a genuine paradise for every ski tourer. There is nothing more lovely than leaving your tracks in the powder snow, in beaming sunshine, surrounded by the dreamy mountain backdrop.

Exceptionally challenging routes await professionals here, while beginners can also get a feel for this realm on easier tours. One particular highlight for those who are fans of touring is the Wildspitze, Tyrol's highest mountain peak (3768m).  In the winter Skischule Obergurgl offers guided tours 1-2 twice a week in this terrain. There has to be at least 4 participants, and the destination is selected according to the snow conditions and the ability of those taken part.
