It was not so long ago when the Ötztal presented itself as in the famous mountain novels of Ludwig Ganghofer. Archaic, untamed, its harsh summits soar into the sky, with cliffs awesomely keeping watch above the dispersed alpine pastures. In 1934 the Hotel Hochfirst was constructed under the guidance of a famous architect, Baumann, in the shade of the breath-taking mountain backdrop of the Ötztaler Alps.
The hotel was extended in 1969 with a spacious seminar room and an extensive indoor pool. The Hotel Hochfirst then climbed up the ranks, becoming one of the most exclusive and best addresses in Ötztal. There was then a generation change in 1993 - father Franz Gstrein handed over his life’s work to his daughter Daniela and son-in-law Karl Fender.

Hideaways of indulgence newly designed
The restaurant in Hochfirst***** with its private dining rooms is a culinary meeting point of award-winning level. Gourmets will find their very own, quiet and stylish spot to enjoy in the newly designed hideaways – from the generous and invigorating breakfast buffet to the 6-course dinner in the evening. A true highlight is the shiny and sparkling Crystal-Parlour.
Since winter 2017/18, the Hochfirst ***** has been wearing a new "crown": The expansion of the top floor and the extension of the roof have created two new suites that meet the highest demands of a holiday residence. This future-oriented investment in quality is at the same time a nice reminder of the early years. Because already at the opening in 1934, the Hochfirst showed an elegant flat roof. Today, the Sky Suite and the Penthouse Suite inspire with their enormous glass surfaces, which offer wonderful views of the surrounding three thousand meter mountains and the valley. Inside, a modern, elegant chalet style invites you to relax. In addition to the two new suites, a new Panorama Suite has been built on the 5th floor.
For the 80th anniversary, the Hochfirst has been awarded 5 stars.
The hotel is now run in the 3rd & 4th generation of the family
